This is a vintage stereoscope viewer that was once used in schools for educational purposes. On the back, there is a plate that likely once read Long Ranch Schools with a number, though the sticker is now worn and scuffed from age and use.
The stereoscope comes with two original stereoview cards:
A scenic European/American view featuring England
A “surprise” view card with charming subject matter
As expected from an item used in a school setting many years ago, the piece shows wear consistent with both age and use. There are visible scuffs and marks, including a stamped number 70266 on one side and a carved/painted 100 on the other.
This stereoscope is a wonderful historical piece—both a collectible and a glimpse into how students once experienced the world through images.
